Surprise! Oysters!
So,
We finally got our rental. Had been waiting some time since it was busy. No big deal. Anyway, while loading our luggage in the back, we noticed an odd smell. At the time, we wanted to get on the road. We thought maybe someone had been smoking in the car, and it would eventually air out.
When we got to the hotel, we decided to check in before carrying the luggage upstairs. All checked in, and having dropped off a few items in the room, we went down to get our luggage. On the way down, the elevator decided it was going to skip everyone’s selected floor, and went straight the to first floor.
We finally made it to the car, and took out the luggage. The smell was still there. We decided we’d better check under the compartment cover.
To our surprise, there were quite a few oyster shells! 23 to be exact. Guess people weren’t smoking in the car after all.
Once we got back up to our room, I called the rental place. 20-30 minutes on hold, and finally someone answered. I told him about what we had discovered in the vehicle, and his response was:
“Wow, I’ve been doing this for 6 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever heard that!”
They are removing 1 day’s charge, and we will exchange the car for a new one tomorrow.
