Pebble Time Bestbuy.com Pre-Order Shipped!

A few days ago, July 1, I received notification from Best Buy that my Pebble Time pre-order ship date was changing to July 6, from the previous July 19. The order status page also states I should receive it by July 7 (Tuesday). Woot!

Today, July 3, I received another email update stating my Pebble Time was shipping via UPS. Checking the order status shows the item as Awaiting UPS Pickup. Oh my! I could possibly have my Pebble Time by Monday (July 6), huzzah!

Update: July 6, 2015

UPS tracking states the committed delivery date of July 7. Based on the tracking history, it looks like they held the package until today, so it would be delivered tomorrow.

Some backstory:

About three months ago, I decided I was not going to get an Apple Watch. At the time, I was looking for a Casio type smartwatch, as I couldn’t justify spending $400 for a watch. I set a budget cap of $100 for a new watch, and after a lot of research, remembered the Pebble, my brother-in-law has. I didn’t know much about Pebble, and once I read a bit about them, I wondered why more people didn’t know about them. I had a $10 best buy coupon, so I couldn’t pass up buying an original Pebble (black) for $89 from Best buy (what a steal!).

It’s been a wonderful experience with the original Pebble. The watch does everything I would expect it to do, and more. Notifications, of course, but I also use it to pay at Starbucks (JavaPay), as well as Dunkin Donuts (GiftCard). I use it to track my runs (with Runkeeper, I’ve completely abandoned my Garmin Forerunner 620), and controlling Pandora (and apple) music is flawless (volume, skip ahead, thumbs up and down, all from my wrist). It hasn’t been all great, though.

In the past three months, I’ve gone through three pebble watches. The first one started having the screen tearing issue about a month in. Pebble support was very quick to send me a replacement, however, the replacement was defective (worse than the original). Again, Pebble was very quick to ship me an additional replacement. The last is still functioning perfectly. So, even though there were some issues with my original watch, Pebble went above and beyond to take care of me.

I’m looking forward to switching to my new white Pebble Time, which will become my everyday watch. I will continue to use the old one while doing work around the house, or playing sports such as soccer.  I’m also planning to sell my Garmin Forerunner 620, which is a great watch, but is never used anymore, and will get back most of the cost for the new Pebble Time I pre-ordered. Now, to patiently wait until it gets here! 🙂

HAPPY FOURTH!
