Diner Ambulance Dash

We had just finished taking some sunset shots at the beach. Figured it was time for dinner, so we started to head for a local diner. As we approached, we noticed a big yellow fire truck outside the diner. The first thought to go through my head: “Food Poisoning? Nah, there would be an ambulance then, not a fire truck.” Of course, before I could finish the thought, I heard a siren in the distance … getting closer … and closer … and closer … and oh – look, it’s an ambulance!

Well, we were now finally close enough to see what was going on. Someone was being treated by the fire-men and paramedics. The odd thing about it, was that everyone in the restaurant was staring at the person getting treated, forks and knives in hand – as if they were watching an episode of “ER” or something. Meanwhile, everyone outside was staring in at everyone eating! Made me wonder if someone was staring at us, as we stared at the people gawking at the diner folk, who were staring at the people eating, who were staring at the guy getting treated.

Anyway, we decided to walk down to the mall food court instead. Neither one of us thinking it was Sunday, and after 7pm. When we got there, mostly everything was closed. Disappointed, and hungry, we decided to hit the hotel room, then try the diner again. No fire truck or ambulance this time!

The diner itself was built in 1970, and it looked like the place had not been remodeled since. That was fine by us, even though it looked a bit run down, it felt very homey. The food was also exceptionally good.
