It’s 2019, and Which TV Streaming Service is Right for Me?

Man, trying to figure out which streaming service gives you all the channels you want is painful. It’s nearly impossible to figure out because none of the services are really up front about what channels they offer.

Here’s a spreadsheet I put together that helped me figure out which service was just right for me. I will format it so it is more legible, at some point in the near future. Also keep in mind this could quickly become out-dated, as these companies appear to be in fierce competition for customers.

Of course, each service’s channel line-ups could change tomorrow, or next week, or month.

Additional Notes:

  • Sling TV allows you to add packages like international channels, more news, etc, for an additional monthly fee, so if that is something you are interested in, Sling is your best option.
  • If you are interested in Fox News, or Fox Business News, neither is available in any package via Sling TV, however is included in YouTube TV, as well as Hulu.
  • TLC is included in Hulu, but not YouTube TV (otherwise, these two services are very close in number of channels offered).
  • NFL + NFL RedZone are only available via Sling TV and Fubo TV
  • NESN (New England Sports Network) is INCLUDED with YouTube TV, and nowhere else.
  • Most premium channels, like HBO, Showtime, Cinemax now offer stand-alone streaming services for $10 – $15 a month. You can subscribe directly to them, and use their apps on many devices: Apple TV (4th gen or newer), Roku, Amazon FireTV, and many more.
  • Streaming services don’t tack on all those crazy extra fees or taxes, so you will end up paying almost exactly the listed price.
  • 50Mbps service from your preferred ISP should be enough bandwidth to stream several shows in HD (even 4K) at once. Streaming HD shows from Netflix is roughly 2 – 5 Mbps, while 4K streams are roughly 15 – 25mbps.
