Anger Management Grocer

We arrived a bit early to the hotel. We could not check in yet. We decided to walk down to a local deli and get some lunch to kill time. Done with lunch, it was only about 1345. The grocery store seemed like a good idea to pass the time.

On the walk to the grocery store, we ran into Captain Morgan! The one and only. He tried to hide behind a store display, but I still managed to get a shot off. The excitement over, we continued to the store.

While there, we picked up some wine, cheese, and crackers. In the checkout line, everything was going fine until the clerk tried to scan our cheeses. You see, the labels had been bent around the side. This made it quite difficult to scan the items. On the first piece of cheese that would not scan, we could tell the clerk was getting frustrated. She tried to scan it once. Nothing… again… nope… third time’s a charm? Sorry, try again. She angrily tried to peel the label off slightly to straighten it out. Scanned? Sorry, no go. After all this, she flips it over, punches in 3 numbers (the labelled price, for the record). She then did her best impression of Roger Clemens on the pitcher’s mound … with our Brie. It flew across the check-out counter, and slammed into the lip, which prevented it from continuing onto the floor, or worse yet, into the bagger crotch! Heck, I think it had enough force that if the lip and the bagger had not been there, perhaps it would have made it to the parking lot. That’s not the end of the story, however.

The next piece of cheese – same thing happened. The bagger now assuming the catcher’s position in anticipation! (OK, the bagger didn’t do that, but he could have!)

After the second piece of cheese didn’t scan, and she manually entered, and threw a strike straight down the middle – she grabbed a lane closed sign and held it up for the 3 or 4 people in line behind us.

“You’re the last one I’m taking!”, she exclaimed. Note, the receipt promises “A 5 Star Experience!” 🙁

  1. Howdy! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My web site looks weird when browsing from my iphone. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that
might be able to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations,
    please share. Many thanks!

  2. Drupal 7 has a whole bunch of themes that are mobile friendly. Consider using that + one of the many mobile themes available. 🙂
