So, I finally got around to installing Eclipse and the Android SDK. I plan to mess around with it over the weekend. So far, it looks very interesting! Of course, I haven’t coded anything yet. I just setup a simple project and followed the Hello, Android tutorial.
Here’s what the simulator looks like (for anyone who’s been living under a rock the past few months) when it first starts up. After seeing my Hello, Android! text displayed on the screen, I played around with the buttons a bit. The Home and App screen look fairly straight forward.
Setting up the SDK was also straight forward. I downloaded Eclipse 3.4 from eclipse.org, and used the Help –> Software Updates method to get the Android Plugin installed [Installing Android].
