Just replaced the 9w3 Bluetooth unit with a 9w7. It was really simple. Also ran some wire to the back of the head unit to get stereo over Bluetooth audio. Works 100% OK. Also get feedback on the MFD with signal strength etc. Didn’t even need to hook up the VCDS to recode anything. The steering wheel buttons just work.<\/p>\n

Note: unhooked car battery negative terminal.
\n– More detailed steps soon!<\/p>\n
1. Remove old Bluetooth module. Should be under the passenger seat. Will need a socket wrench to get the three bolts out.
\n2. Unplug the unit by pressing on the little black catch, then release the white clamp.
\n3. Remove one t20 screw from deep inside footwell on passenger side center console. No need to remove the panel.
\n4. Remove head unit from dash. (More detail to follow)
\n5. Remove green plug from back of headunit. Add repair wire pins in slot 5 and 11.
\n6. Run cable down back through loosened panel in footwell.
\n7. Add repair wire pins 4 and 5 (match colors of 5 and 11 on back of headunit)
\n8. Plug it back in to new BT module
\n9. Put headunit back in.
\n10. Re-attach air bag display
\n11. Attach negative battery terminal and pair your phone. Make sure you get audio out of left and right over BT audio.
\n12. Unhook battery again.
\n13. Hide the new wire under the footwell panel.
\n14. Put everything back together and re-attach the battery.
\n15. If you get a ‘partial assisted electronic steering warning’ and steering is a little stiff, drive around for a few.minutes and it will correct itself.<\/p>\n
