I recently picked up a new wireless mouse: the Microsoft Explorer Mini with BlueTrack Technology. So far, I am very satisfied with the quality and usability of the mouse (both on Mac and PC). BlueTrack is definitely not a gimmick, and it turns virtually any surface into a mouse pad (not including clear glass, as MS states). I never thought the couch would make a decent mouse pad!
- The mouse glides effortlessly.
- It feels very comfortable
- The USB dongle is very small (not a “nano” like the Logitech mice, but still small)
- 5 programmable buttons (on both Mac and PC!) via Intellipoint 6.3 (at time of this writing)
- I even like how they removed the ‘clicks’ from the mouse wheel! It spins with some minor resistance. Unlike Logitech scroll wheels, which offer little to no resistance.
- Takes 1 AA battery
I know most gamers would scream at the thought of using a wireless mouse for gaming. But I’m not a hard-core gamer (although I am eyeing the upcoming Microsoft Official Press Release, Microsoft Sidewinder x8 Gaming Mouse [Engadet]). I have to say that so far, in the limited games I have played (WoW and Spore), the mouse works flawlessly. No latency, no stuttering, no issues what-so-ever.
I would definitely recommend this mouse to anyone in the market for a new portable mouse. If you are looking for a desktop version, try the Explorer with BlueTrack Technology. Slightly larger, and comes with a charging station.
Hey, I searched for this blog on Bing and just wanted to say thanks for the excellent read. I would have to agree with it, thank you again!
Thanks for the review – the side-by-side pics really helped. I’m considering getting this mouse over a Logitech, and the positive review with respect to its smooth response is great to hear.
Would love to discuss it with you 😀
Enjoyed reading through this, very good stuff, thankyou . “I will do my best. That is all I can do. I ask for your help-and God’s.” by Lyndon B. Johnson.
